Job Description:
The successful applicant will work with other bioinformatics scientists to implement solutions
to bioinformatics and data analysis problems. Works as part of a team to develop custom software
pipelines to facilitate data processing and analysis and derive biologically meaningful results
from computational analyses. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of computational analyses that contribute to project strategies.

Duties/Responsibilities:
This position requires the individual to apply analyses to high-throughput sequence data (especially Next-Generation sequence data) either using existing software and in-house pipelines or developing new software. In this position, you will work with bioinformatics scientists, software developers, and bioinformatics support managers to deliver timely results to research scientist directed projects. Develops scripts in a UNIX environment to analyze data using standard bioinformatics programs and methods. Develops analysis pipelines that include basic statistical methods. Develops web interfaces as appropriate. Validates results from computational analyses using basic statistics and quality control procedures. May be responsible for developing web applications or in-house software for researchers.

Educational Qualifications Desired:
Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field and
3 to 5 years of industry related experience is required. Masters degree in Molecular
Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field and minimum of 2 years of industry related experience is preferred. Or equivalent amount of relevant education and experience.

Competencies and Experience Desired:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to work with high-throughput sequence data and
work effectively as part of a team. Proficiency in programming using Perl, Python or C/C++ in a UNIX environment is required. 2 or more years experience with relational database systems is desired. 2 or more years experience with web-application development is desired. Experimental biology experience is desired. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
